Vernon DH 7 – Efficiency & Quality

Vernon DH 7 – Efficiency & Quality

I really need to start off by thanking all the Volunteers and Race Staff for helping out and making this race an unbelievable success! I thought last year was a stepping stone in race quality and efficiency… surprise, my volunteers made it better! Last year the race saw 85 or so racers and we managed to get all riders down the hill in 20min for practice runs. This year the tempo was high and 104 people were funneled down the 1km track in less than 10min with enough to come back up the hill and do another run! Two runs in 20min! Wow!

Race preparation and track setup was done in great time and like always little thing missed on Friday were quickly taken care of on Saturday. Registration sawpeople take part in this years Annual Vernon DH! The first increase in attendance since the explosion of races across the Country. Racers saw 4 practice runs on Saturday with a Warm-Up after lunch and 2 Qualifying times. Kyle Martin rode a clean qualifying time to securing the pole position entering into Sunday.

Sunday morning saw semi-questionable weather roll in but nothing I was concerned about, I was confident the day would overcome all obstacles and the race would go by uninterrupted. The morning saw 6 practice runs before lunch. After the tasty lunch the riders warmed up and dove straight into racing. A new addition in the racing disciplines this year was In-Line. It saw the first rider to participate at Vernon all the way from Italy!
